Sharon Williams Williams

July 20, 1944 — July 29, 2023

Sharon W. Williams, 79, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away in her sleep on July 29, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in North Chesterfield, with her husband of 57 years (Robert) at her bedside.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Williams; nephew, Christopher Cawthon; grand nephews, Hunter Dovel, Chase Dovel, Corey Cawthon, and Cyle Cawthon; half-nieces, Kristie Cassidy and Sheelie Cassidy; brother-in-law, Richard Williams and wife, Kathy; dear friends, Ray and Dana Potter; and many dear friends in Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Zaruba; father, Charles Clayton Harvey; stepfather, Kenneth Williams; twin sister, Carole Williams Fetterhoff; brother, Richard Harvey (infant); half-sisters, Sandra Williams, Anne Williams Potter, and Judy Williams Cassidy; beloved niece, Donna Dovel; and numerous dear friends and pets.

Sharon was born July 20, 1944, in Petersburg, VA. She graduated from Hopewell High School in 1962. Sharon and Robert married in 1966 and lived in numerous places as his career (and 2 years in the US Army) moved them. They first lived in Blacksburg, VA (graduate school), then Lexington, KY, Nokesville, VA (army), back to Lexington, Boulder, CO, Charlotte, NC, Endicott, NY, back to Boulder, and then home to Chesterfield, VA, in 2005.

She had several jobs in the early years, but found her true calling as a full charge bookkeeper during her first stay in Colorado. She provided bookkeeping services to local businesses, first as an employee at a CPA firm, then as sole proprietor of her own business. During her second stay in Colorado, she was head bookkeeper for a local home builder, then head bookkeeper for a local landscape contractor. She retired in 2000, due to health issues, but continued to manage the household finances until the end.

Sharon loved her family, her friends, music (all kinds), reading, the Denver Broncos, The West Wing, jigsaw puzzles, and Chipotle burritos. Before her health problems, she enjoyed bowling and hiking. She also loved animals. She once volunteered to clean cages at a local animal shelter in Colorado in order to pet the animals. She had many pets over the years, from her childhood dog Frosty to Abby, a part Siamese rescue cat. She loved watching the local wildlife: the hawks soaring above the Colorado house (and the prairie dogs down below); the geese and raccoons at the pond house in Chester, VA; and the deer grazing or lounging in the back yard in Chesterfield.

Sharon was a soft-spoken, kind, loving, gentle soul with an infectious laugh. She will be remembered and missed by all those whose lives she touched.

The family is being assisted with arrangements by J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Chester Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Sharon to local food banks or the ASPCA. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
