Sherry Lynn Martinson, 74, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 4, 1947 in Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Betty (Phipps) Martinson; love of her life, Frank Bell; sister, Pam McDaniel; brother-in-law, Bob McDaniel; and niece, Michelle Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Jeff Bracewell; son, Paul Bell; grandchildren, Jeffery (Caitlyn) Bracewell, Sarah Bracewell and Ryan Bell; great-grandchildren, Paisleigh Bracewell and Silas Underwood; brothers, Mike Martinson (Linda) and Donny Martinson (Lisa); nieces, Tanya McDaniel and Natalie (Todd) Merritt; nephew, Michael Martinson; dear friend, Pat Solberg; and many extended family members and good friends. She was looking forward to the arrival of her next great-grandchild, Magnolia Bracewell. She was an award winning writer/editor, retiring from civil service for the federal government. She later went on to work for the state, where she retired from District 19. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 284. She was the most loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so proud of them. She loved deeply and unconditionally. She had a smile that would light up a room, loved to laugh, and touched many lives with her kind and generous spirit. Spending time with family was her favorite thing to do, but she also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies while snacking on Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. She is loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center ICU nurses and doctors, as well as Bon Secours Hospice for the care and compassion they provided. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com .
