Shirley Irene Brannan

Shirley I. Brannan, 81, of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Hilda Brannan; and brothers, Grover Brannan, Jr. and Robert Dale “Dusty” Poole. She is survived by her son, Cecil Ellis, Jr. of Hopewell; her loving sisters, Mildred Choinski (Edward) of Wayland, MA, Hazel Kirksey of Hopewell, Linda Newman (William) of Prince George; a granddaughter, Amber Ellis; a great-grandson, O’Ryan Cash; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley enjoyed socializing with family and friends and relaxing at Myrtle Beach. She retired as secretary for the Prince George Commonwealth’s Attorney. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Hopewell, the Hopewell Women’s Club, the Women of the Moose, and served on the Hopewell Senior Advisory Commission. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with a visitation to follow. Internment will be private.
