Shirley Daniel

Shirley Marie Daniel, 72, of Hopewell died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in John Randolph Medical Center. She was born in Oxford, NC and had been a long time resident of Hopewell. Mrs. Daniel was a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church since 1954 where she sang in the choir and was very active in Outreach Ministry. She was employed for 25 years at Appomattox Cleaners. Mrs. Daniel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother . She was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mildred Lemmons Williford and the widow of Ralph A. Daniel. Mrs. Daniel is survived by three daughters, Diane D. Smith and her husband Herbert of Colonial Heights, Betsy G. Jernigan of Hopewell, and Terri A. Legat and her husband Bruce of Prince George; 5 grandchildren, Andy and Brad Smith, Christa McBride, Jessica Jernigan and Rachael Wright; 7 great grandchildren; and other close family and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, August 31, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Powers Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. R. James Rogers, officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
