Shirley Lanier Simms

Shirley Lanier Simms, 83, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Born in Wallace, NC she was the daughter of the late Brantley and Bonnie Murray Lanier; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Mott T. Simms; and two brothers, Murray and Allen Lanier. Mrs. Simms retired from Heilig Meyers after 25 years of service and was also a member of Kingsland Baptist Church in Chesterfield, VA. She is survived by her children, Stanley Watson, Seavy Wayne Watson, Sheila Gallagher and husband, Norman, and Ken Simms and wife, Cheryl; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Evelyn Lanier Wells, Inez Lanier Rivenbark, Gladys Lanier Hutchins and husband, Lee, and Don Lanier and wife, Lil; close friends and best neighbors, Mickey and Becky Singleton; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
