Shirley Young

Shirley Armstrong Young, 86, of Petersburg passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. He was married to the late Katherine Ryder Young on Oct 26, 1946. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Rosa Collier Young. He is survived by his children, David Young and his wife Susan of Chester; Mark Young and his wife Sabrina of Dinwiddie; Shirley Ellen Osmundson and her husband Tom of Hopewell; and Debbie Marshall and her husband Jim of Chattanooga, TN, grandchildren, Hank Osmundson of Burbank, Ca., Jon and Dana Osmundson of Morristown, TN, Jonathan Young of Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV, Joshua and Jason Young of Chester, Jimmy and Jared Marshall of Chattanooga, Nicholas Tanner of Dinwiddie and Lisa Marie Young, who is his only granddaughter, of Dinwiddie; a sister, Flora Belle Brown of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Young served in the U. S. Army during WWII and later retired from a civil service position at Fort Lee. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
