SIDNEY â??SIDâ? J. WELLS, 81, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. Born August 4, 1926 in Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late John Walter Wells and Edna Harris Wells. He was a retired farmer and husband of the late Beula Bailey Wells.
Mr. Wells is survived by his children, John W. Wells and his wife Kristine of Chesterfield, David Mark Wells of Disputanta, and Mary Ann Spencer and her husband Michael from Maryland; his stepchildren, Lois Kafka and her husband Bob of Dinwiddie, Betty Solesbee and her husband Butch of Hopewell, and Albert Seymour and his wife Mary from Tennessee; his brother Milton Wells and his wife Shirley of Colonial Heights; his sister Betty Modlin of Suffolk; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 11 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Purviance Chapel, J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
