Spencer Vaughan Perkins, Jr.

Spencer "Barney" Vaughan Perkins, Jr., of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 87 years.

Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer V. and Ruby W. Perkins; his wife, Patricia Ann Jolly Perkins; and brother, Earl Claiborne Perkins. He is survived by two sons, Spencer V. Perkins III (Nina), and their two children, Elli and Will, and Mark E. Perkins (Christy), and their son, Jeremy; and his sister, Shirley Jezierski (Mike); as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He worked his entire 60-year career helping others in their time of need at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Barney was active in the Jaycees, Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the church of which his parents were Charter Members - Saint Mark's United Methodist Church. Barney participated in the church Men's Group and could be found most Sunday mornings singing in the choir. When not busy with work or other commitments, Barney enjoyed spending time at the family farm or fishing.

A visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son - Petersburg Chapel, 103 S. Adams St., Petersburg, VA 23803, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 225 Claremont St., Petersburg, VA 23805, at 11:00 AM, on Friday, March 14, 2025. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Mark's United Methodist Church, Petersburg, VA.
