Spencer Lee â??Samâ? Moffett, age 78 of Chester, was called home to The Lord February 15, 2012. He is survived by his Loving Wife and best friend for 45 years, Carol Anne Pecarek. He was the only child of Hugh R. Moffett, Jr. and Susann Robinson Moffett of Warrenton, Virginia, where he was a 1951 graduate of Warrenton High School. Upon graduating from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in 1955, â??Samâ? practiced pharmacy until retirement at the end of 1998. He was a member of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity, was first employed at Gardinerâ??s Drugs in Warrenton, then two years active duty as a U. S. Army pharmacist at Ft. Jackson, S.C. and Ft. Clayton, Canal Zone, then at Clear and Childress drugs, Colonial Heights, VA. In 1962 he was one of the founders of Chester Drugs, serving until 1995 for dear friends, Jack and Shirley Parrish, then two years with Revco and the last two years with Eckerd. He was active in the Chester Jaycees, the Young Republican Club, and was an alternate delegate to the Republican Convention in Norfolk in the 60â??s. â??Samâ? was a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of Chester, having a perfect attendance record for 22 years. He served as deacon at Chester Baptist Church, sang with the Village Voices, and was a co-owner of Chesterfield Flyers, and was a member of the Site Selection Committee for Chesterfield Airport. For 14 years he participated in the Senior Olympics, earning several silver and bronze medals for sprinting, and qualified for the National Senior Sports Classic in 1991 at Syracuse, N.Y. â??Samâ? served a four year term on the Chesterfield Health Center Commission, appointed by the Board of Supervisors to oversee Lucy Corr Village, and continued to serve on the Lucy Corr Foundation. He was a member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association. He was inducted into the Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2004. He received recognition for serving as a driver for the handicapped and elderly with the Shepherdâ??s Center of Chesterfield. The family will receive friends 2:00PM to 4:00PM, and 6:00PM to 8:00PM, February 17, 2012 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, and Chester, VA. 23831. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Chester Baptist Church. The Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School Street, Chester, VA. 23831, The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL.60693, or the Lucy Corr Foundation, P.O.
