Dwayne Aaron Thornton, Sr., 32, formerly of Hopewell, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in Harbor Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Dwayne was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #37, and a crane operator for Maxim Crane Works. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Carlye Thornton, Sr. Dwayne is survived by a son, Dwayne A. Thornton, Jr., two daughters, Erica M. Thornton, Ashly M. Thornton and the mother of his children, Wendy M. Thornton, all of Blackstone, VA, his mother, Helen Dail Thornton-Anderson, step-father, George Anderson, both of Crewe, VA, a brother, Nathan C. Thornton, Jr. and his wife Dawnn of Dinwiddie, VA, a sister, Audrey T. Evitts and her husband Charlie of Chesterfield County, VA, a step-brother, Ronnie L. Anderson of Blackstone, four step-sisters, Edna Saul and her husband Jimmy of Chesterfield, VA, Melody R. Shaw of Jetersville, VA, Julie A. David and her husband Steve of Cumberland, VA, Dianna A. Siever and her husband Aaron of Shenandoah, VA, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a special friend, Karen Seger of Jessup, MD. The family will receive friends Friday, February 6, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joey Bohatec officiating.
