Sr., D. Jordan

Melvin Douglas Jordan, Sr., age 49, of Chester, VA, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011. He was born in Richmond, VA, the son of the late Ernest R. Jordan, Sr. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Barbara Jordan; son, Melvin Jordan, Jr.; mother Elizabeth Duncan; siblings, Roy Jordan, Jr. and wife, Donna, Kim Jordan, Tony Jordan, and Angel Edwards and husband, Jack; and other extended family and friends. Melvin spent most of his working career in the power industry; currently employed as a general manager with Trafford, Inc.
He loved race cars, being outdoors, fishing and camping, and was an avid go cart racer. Riding his Harley was Melvinâ??s true passion. He was a member of the Blue Knights, VA 17th chapter and dreamed of working at a motorcycle shop during his retirement years. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 6 to8 pm at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.
