Sr., E. Shurm

William E. Shurm, Sr, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012. He retired from Allied Chemical after forty years as an Operator. Mr. Shurm served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He loved being outdoors, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading. Mr. Shurm is preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Shurm; his parents, George W. and Mary Annie Trone Shurm. He is survived by his son, William E. Shurm, Jr.; daughters, Anne Underwood and husband Kenny, and Sherie Nichols and husband Timmy; grandchildren, Lindsey Nichols, Christopher Underwood, Jennifer Underwood, Sarah Shurm, and Stephen Shurm; great-grandchild, Kindle Warren; special friend, Vicki Connelly; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Appomattox Cemetery.
