Sr., E. Thayer

Mr. Leslie E. Thayer, 94, of Ferndale Road, Petersburg, Virginia departed this life on September 30, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. A caring and devoted father of five, he was born in Petersburg, VA on July 21, 1917 to the late Charles A. Thayer and Annie Lee Thayer. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice Bishop Thayer; a daughter, Sharron Diane Tarleton; and sisters, Margaret Gillespie and Elizabeth Capparullo. He leaves behind two sons, Leslie E. Thayer, Jr. (Judith) and Charles O. Thayer; daughters, Linda G. Carey (Ronald) and Shirley M. Adams (Tommy); son-in-law, Harvey Tarleton; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.. The family will receive family and friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev Jon Dundalow officiating. Entombment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
