Sr., Ellis

Cecil Ellis Sr., 81, of Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. He was born in Selma, North Carolina. He retired as a purchasing agent from Allied Chemical after 32 years of service. Mr. Ellis is a member of the Optimist Club and Community Christian Fellowship of Matoaca, Virginia. Mr. Ellis was a co-chairman of the Hopewell Police Departmentâ??s Community Watch and National Night Out. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Annie Jones Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ellis; sons, Rev. Bruce W. Ellis and wife Yvonne, David M. Ellis and wife Billie, and Cecil Ellis Jr.; a brother, Rudolph Ellis; sisters, Sarah Solesbee and husband Frank, Etta Mae Boyette, and Virginia Hess; and five grandchildren, Brittney, Mandy, Ryan, Skye, and Justin. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George with the Reverend Jim Burton of Community Christian Fellowship officiating.
