Benjamin F. Marks, Sr., 91, of Hopewell died Sunday, November 1, 2009 from complications following a fall. He was a native of Prince George County, VA, the son of the late Helen Figg and William H. Marks, Sr. Mr. Marks was a retired supervisor from Allied Chemical with 41 years of service, a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post #146. He was a World War II Army Veteran who served with the 45th Division, 179th Infantry, Company E. He received the Purple Heart and Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster during his service in Italy and France. Mr. Marks is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise King Marks; a daughter Ann Marks Bohlander and husband Fred of Reston, VA; a son Benjamin F. Marks, Jr. and wife Melanie of Carrollton, VA; two grandchildren, Lauren C. Murphy of Carrollton, VA, and Fred J. Bohlander, III and his wife Amy of Richmond, VA; one sister Elizabeth M. Anderson of Yuma, AZ; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 4th from 6 to 8 pm at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 5th at Wesley United Methodist Church at 11 am with Reverends Rickman and Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wesley UMC, 2901 Norfolk St, Hopewell, VA, 23860.
