Sr., F. Sober

Eugene Flexon Sober, Sr., 78, of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012. He was the son of the late Harvey L. and Floy Head Sober, and was also preceded in death by his loving daughter, Teresa Sober Collins; two brothers, Franklin and Jerrell Sober; and one sister, Rachel Dunn. Mr. Sober was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the First Congregational Christian Church. He was an honorary member of the Hopewell Masonic Lodge No. 289, Dinwiddie Lodge No. 136, and the Claremont Lodge No. 177 AF. & AM. He is survived by his wife, Louise L. Sober; four daughters, Patricia Smith Weston (Rodney), Dottie Smith Merritt, Debbie Adams (Larry), and Diane Bennett; one son, Eugene Sober Jr. (Robin); a brother, David Sober (Nancy); two sisters, Hope Conrad (Dan), and Hazel Cooke (Ramon); a sister-in-law, Sue Sober; brother-in-law, Paul Dunn; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Hayes, officiating. Interment with Military and Masonic Rights will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
