John Glen Lowder, Sr., of Hopewell, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Hopewell and was a life-long resident. Mr. Lowder served with the U.S. Army and was a retired operator with Hercules, Inc. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Kelly Lowder of Hopewell, four sons, John Glen Lowder, Jr. of Hopewell, John Warren Lowder of Dinwiddie, James Edward Grissom and wife, Debby of Prince George, Joseph Austin Pruitte of Chesterfield, three daughters, Laura Y. Horne of Dinwiddie, Jennifer Pruitte Whitley of Dinwiddie and her husband, S/Sgt. Charles Whitley, now serving in Iraq and Mary L. McCormick and her husband Larry of Dinwiddie, eight grandchildren, his other, Annie Brooks Miller of Douglasville, Ga. and his father, William Franklin Lowder and wife, Catherine of Melbourne, Fl. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March17, 2005 in Liberty Baptist Church at 7 PM with Rev. Roland Powell. Interim pastor, officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Interment will be in private. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service
