Sr., H. Short

William H. Short, Sr., MSgt (Ret), United States Army, age 82, of Petersburg died Sunday, April 25, 2004 in Southside Regional Medical Center. MSgt. Short was born in Webb, WV, son of the late Harry and Mary Short. He entered the service of his country at an early age, during World War II and was wounded during the liberation of the Phillipines, IS for which he received the Purple Heart and later served in Korea. He retired after 25 years of service and entered Civil Service as an instructor at Ft. Lee. He is survived by his wife Elsie M. Short of Petersburg, a son and daughter-in-law, William H. Jr. and Yvonne Short of Chesterfield, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Elizabeth and J. T. Garrett of Newhall, CA., two grandsons; Scott C. Short of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Corey L. Garrett of Newhall, CA. A graveside service will full military honors will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, April 29th in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
