Robert Lewis Bradshaw, Sr., 72, of Ivor, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Lewis and Dahlia Hall Bradshaw and his wife, Rena Lucille Stone Bradshaw.
He served his country in the US Army where he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California. He was an avid deer hunter and a member of Ivor Hunt Club where he served as treasurer for 45 years. He enjoyed NASCAR for many years following his favorite driver; Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Robert was a member of the Ivor United Methodist Church and a volunteer with the Ivor Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He retired from Smithfield Foods after 46 years.
He is survived by his son, Robert Lewis Bradshaw, Jr. and his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Renay Bradshaw, all of Richmond; his grandchildren, Robert Lewis Bradshaw III, Nancy-Wren Bradshaw and Mallory, Christian, and Timothy Wheeler; his companion, Donna Gwaltney; one sister, Betty Whisenant and her husband, Ralph; a niece, Yvonne Gwaltney and her husband, Roy, and children, Tiffany Vick and Michael Gwaltney.
The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Wakefield on Saturday, July 24 from 6 to 8PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 3PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Anne Beale and Rev. Cliff Fritzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Ivor Cemetery.
