Sr., L. Burkey

Justin â??Jackâ? Lippincott Burkey, Sr., age 82, of Chester, VA, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Carter Burkey; their children, Justin L. Burkey, Jr. and wife, Ann, Carter L. Burkey, Sr. and wife Sheila, Mary Burkey Owens and husband, Harrison; and 8 grandchildren. He graduated from Appomattox High School in 1945 and attended the University of Richmond. Jack served in the U.S. Navy, and was a past member of the Chester Lionâ??s Club. He was a member of the Chester Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A private ceremony will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Presbyterian Church Endowment fund, 3424 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831-7112.
