Sr., M. Vivas

Philip M. Vivas, Sr., 80 of Chester, departed this life and went home to be with his heavenly Father on the morning of March 24, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy J.D. Vivas; three children Deborah P. Nelson and her husband Jim of Midlothian, Texas, Philip M. Vivas, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Chester; Elizabeth (E-Beth) V. Turner and her husband Steve of Chester. A brother Joseph A. Vivas of Chester; two sisters-in-law Margaret D. Woodlief and Sharon L. Brieling, both of Hopewell; a brother-in-law, William J. Davis of Hopewell; ten grandchildren; Patrick (Cy) Cypher, Jennifer Cypher, Elizabeth Cypher, Brittany Nelson, Wade Vaughan, Philip Vivas, III, Paige Vivas, Ashley Turner, Kathryn Turner, and Matthew Turner; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah Vaughan, and Aubrie Holbrook. Papa was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. As a proud Marine, he served his country honorably in the Korean War. He was retired from Stone Container after 40 years of service. As a faithful Christian, he attended Cawson Street Church of Christ where he served as an Elder and was loved by many. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, March 28, 2011 at Cawson Street Church of Christ with Mural Worthey and William Harper, officiating.
