Sr., R. Burnett

John Randolph Burnett, Sr., 72, of Hopewell died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Hopewell and had been a lifelong resident. Mr. Burnett was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose #1472, a member of the Smurfit-Stone Retireeâ??s Club, and retired maintenance supervisor of Smurfit-Stone. He was the son of the late William Edward and Mabel Jacobs Burnett. Mr. Burnett is survived by his wife, Peggy Hatchell Burnett of Hopewell, his daughter, Julie Burnett Thomas and her husband Bruce of Chester, his son, John Randolph Burnett, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Gordonsville and two grandchildren, Cameron and Casey Thomas, both of Chester. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ed Bellis, pastor of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County.
