Sr., R. Rhodes

Walter Richard Rhodes, Sr., 71, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, and he was retired from Allied Chemical, now Honeywell, after forty years of service. Mr. Rhodes is preceded by his parents, Edward Curtis and Minnie Spivey Rhodes; brother, Robert E. Rhodes; and a grandson, Matthew Rhodes. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Mae Rhodes; daughter, Anita L. Rhodes; son, Walter R. Rhodes, Jr. and wife, Debra; grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Rhodes; sister, Virginia Mae Byrum; brothers, James E. Rhodes, William L. Rhodes, and Shirley R. Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, VA.
