James Taylor Jacobs, Sr., 81, of Colonial Heights, Va. died of complications from Parkinsonâ??s Disease. Mr. Jacobs was from Wheeling, WV and was preceded in death by his parents, David Reese Jacobs and Grace Martha Jacobs and his brother, Melven David Jacobs of Fremont, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mabon Jacobs; children, James T. Jacobs, Jr., Karen L. Edmonds; four grandchildren, Joshua N. Jacobs, Jamie L Jacobs, Amanda R. Edmonds, and Chasity L. Fouts (Marshall Fouts); two great-grandchildren, Dustin M. Fouts, and Aaliyah N. Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a retired veteran of WWII and retired merchant. He was a member of the Independent order of Odd-fellows, Stanardsville IOOF Lodge #190, Hannah Rebekah Lodge # 17, Ambler Morris Encampment # 22, Lynchburg Canton # 16, was a Past Grand Master, of the Odd-fellows, of VA, past Grand Patriarchs of the Grand Encampment of VA, past Dept. Commander of the Canton of VA, member of American Legion #284, member of V.F.W. Robert E. Lee Post 2239, past Commander of V.F.W. McNair Trueheart Post 622, member of Fraternal order of Eagle # 882 and was a member of Highland United Methodist Church 125 E. Westover Ave. Colonial Heights, VA. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Blandford Cemetery.
