James Thomas Williams Sr., 70 of Petersburg passed away on Saturday September 18, 2010. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Franklin Williams Jr., and his sister Ronnee Cashat. He is survived by his mother, Florine Gwaltney Williams of Petersburg; children, Tony and Tracey Williams of Columbia, Maryland, Mike and Petra Williams of Petersburg, Virginia, Tanya and Roger Smith of Craigsville, Virginia James and Diane Williams Jr. of Colonial Heights, Virginia, 11 grandchildren Callie, Benjamin, and Theron Williams, Michelle and Nathan Williams, Heather, Natalie, and Weston Smith, Alex Taylor, Krista Williams, Jacob Williams, and two nephews. Mr. Williams was born July 9, 1940 in Petersburg, Virginia where he was a lifelong resident. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, and also worked in various trades including as a mechanic and welder. In his free time Mr. Williams enjoyed drag racing with his son Mike and photography. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday September 23, 2010 at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George.
