David Wells Cook, Sr., 87, of Dinwiddie, widower of Gladys Proffitt Cook, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 in Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Sampson Co., NC and was the son of the late Cloyd Arlie and Maggie Alderman Cook. Mr. Cook was a tractor mechanic, farmer, paper carrier and a retired employee of the Petersburg-Richmond Turnpike. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and John B. Cook. He is survived by two sons, Donald E. Cook and David W. Cook, Jr. and his wife, Emmie; a daughter, Patricia C. Williamson and her husband, Payton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
