Woodrow W. Temple, Sr., 67 of Chesterfield went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Petersburg, his was the son of Alice â??Grannyâ? Temple and the late Everette Lee Temple, Sr. Woodrow was retired after 20 years from CSX Railroad, a member of Life Church and a graduate of Prince George High School. His favorite past times included hunting, fishing and most of all being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time with his two loving four-legged â??Best Buddiesâ?, Brittney and Brawny. He served his country proudly and was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve He is survived by his wife, Faye Smith Temple; one son, Woodrow W. Temple, Jr. and wife, Valerie; one daughter, Teresa Lynne Williams and husband, Robbie; five grandchildren, Cole, Ryan and Kyle Williams; Sarah and Lindsay Temple all of Chesterfield; a brother, Everette L. Temple, Jr. and wife, Carolyn; a sister, Linda Temple Mason and husband, Kenneth; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George. Rev. Paul Furrow will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity that Woodrow felt was critical to the men and women who have served our country. The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to severely injured Service Members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.
