Stephen Joseph Kofron

Stephen Joseph Kofron, 85, of S. Chesterfield, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Kofron, Sr. and Mary Heretick Kofron; and sister, Joanna Kofron. Steve was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Sussex Hunt Club. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service which included tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was an avid turkey hunter and loved farming. He is survived by his sister, Kitty Collins; two brothers, Jerry Kofron and James Kofron; three nieces, Maggie Collins, Mary Ann Kofron Gates, and Elizabeth Matthews; five nephews, Matthew Kofron, Father David Collins, James Collins, James Kofron, Jr., Steve Kofron; special friend and caregiver, Denise Kofron; long-time friends, Margaret Munson and Herbert Shelton; and numerous cousins. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 7310 Squirrel Level Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.
