Steven Lamar Massey, 72, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Friday, April 06, 2012. Born in Durham, NC, he was the son of the late Grover T. Massey and Sally Daniels Boswell. In addition, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Massey and two sisters, Peggy Traylor and Jean Farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman and a welder by trade for most of his life. His skill and expertise earned him recognition in a Time magazine article. Mr. Massey was a very loving and caring man. He leaves behind his wife, Kathy-Jo Massey; daughters, Tamera Davis and husband, Lee, Teresa Holloman and husband, Grey, and Trinity Massey; the son he always wanted, Eric Harris; grandchildren, Courtney Lemaire and husband, Robbie, Megan Rutledge and husband, Ryan, Logan Holloman, and Dallas Harris; great-grandchildren, Landen Lemaire, Christian Lemaire and Eleanor Rutledge; brother, Danny Massey and wife, Missy; sister, Ann Vaughan; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, among them, special brother-in-law and best friend Peyton Fuller and his wife Donna. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special devoted friend, Tommy Gill and spiritual leader Steve Gay. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
