Steven Hunter Miles

Steven Hunter Miles, 62, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on November 5, 2023, at VCU Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on December 20, 1960, in Richmond to a Chester family, he was predeceased by his father, Charles Hunter "Chuck" Miles; and his sister, Mary Susan "Sue" Miles Cawthorn. Steven is survived by his mother, Helen Arnold Miles Moran; his sister, Janet Lynn Miles; the love of his life and mother of his children, Deborah Johns Miles; his sons, Aaron Hunter Miles (Stephany) and Steven Arthur Miles; his daughter, Julianne Miles Brown (Justin); granddaughters, Ivy Lynn Brown and Nataly Queiroz Miles; his niece, Kelly C. Wright (Brian); and nephew, Adam T. Cawthorn.

Steven was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School and Virginia Tech's School of Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and retired from Austin Brockenbrough & Associates after 30 years service as director of highway design. Steven was a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Chester and also a past vice-president of the Virginia Region of Kiwanis International. He had many interests and was an avid solar eclipse chaser. He already had reservations in Indianapolis for the April 2024 eclipse.

The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 with a burial at Sunset Memorial Park following the service.
