Steven Ray Rogers, 54, of Colonial Heights, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Flack Rogers; paternal grandparents, Earl and Mabel Rogers of Arkansas, and maternal grandparents, Charles E. and Mary Anna Ellington of Colonial Heights. A member of Second Baptist Church, Steven was a former civil service employee at Fort Lee and most recently worked in the information technology sector. He is survived by his parents, Elton Earl and Beverly Lynn Ellington Rogers of Colonial Heights; brother, Jeffrey N. Rogers and husband, Christopher M. Young of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Suzanne Rogers Osborne and husband, Garnett E. Osborne of Chester; a niece, Jacquelyn N. Osborne; and a nephew, Garnett Sterling Osborne. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805, with Dr. Joseph T. Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (memo line- Campaign 140) 2828 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294.
