Stewart Lumpkin

Stewart William “Paw Paw” “Doc” Lumpkin, 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ida B. Lumpkin; one daughter, Evon Gosnell; three granddaughters, Sharon Rogers and her husband Mike, Diane Jones and her husband Shawn and Linda Goodman; one great-grandson Derek Rogers; one great-granddaughter Danielle Jones; one brother, Adolphus Lumpkin and his wife Juanita; two sisters, Chappie Barbour and her husband Arnold, Marie Shaw and her husband William. He was predeceased by his parents William A. and Shellie C. Lumpkin; four brothers, Gilford, Kemper, Harry and Elsworth Lumpkin; three sisters, Elsie Lynch, Beatrice Turner and Emmaline Mathist. Mr. Lumpkin was retired from Allied Chemical after 31 years and was a long time member of Chester Baptist church. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, April 26th at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son., with Dr. Stansfield officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Chester Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2370, Chester, VA, 23831.
