Stuart Mcguire Wheelhouse Jr.

June 27, 1937 — January 13, 2024

Stuart McGuire Wheelhouse, Jr., 86, of Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born to the late Stuart McGuire Wheelhouse, Sr. and Winifred Gay Henderson. Mr. Wheelhouse was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Ann Wheelhouse; as well as his son, James Monroe Wheelhouse; grandson, Dana Rowsey; and sister, Carol McCarthy.

Mr. Wheelhouse was a United States Navy veteran, having faithfully served his country from 1955-1959. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Stuart went on to retire from Allied Chemical as a lab technician after many years of dedicated service. He loved to tend and work in his vegetable garden. Mr. Wheelhouse had a deep love for his Lord and was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church. His family was most important to him, and he will be remembered by them as a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papa.

Mr. Wheelhouse is survived by his three children, Tricia W. Rowsey, Deborah Markert and husband, Wallace, and Stuart M. Wheelhouse III and wife, Mary Beth; grandchildren, Christopher Rowsey and wife, Lea, Jeffery Rowsey, Jeremy Lee, Niki Pontious, Sarah Pierce and husband, Justin, and Alex Wheelhouse and wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Matthew, Kierston, Aiden, Layla, Christian, Brilee, Lorelai, Royce, Savannah, Natalie, and Jack; three brothers, Carl Wheelhouse and wife, Marlene, Richard Wheelhouse, and Walter Wheelhouse; two devoted friends, Leroy Harrison and Ron Lundie; his beloved cat, Ears; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Western Heights Baptist Church with interment to follow at 2:00 PM, at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
