Sybil Oakley Jordan

Sybil Oakley Jordan, age 87 of Stony Creek, Virginia (originally from Roanoke Rapids, NC) passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Sybil was born in Weldon, NC to the late Charles Thomas Oakley Sr. and Clara Nobles Oakley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Carey Jordan of Stony Creek, VA, her siblings, Charles Thomas Oakley Jr., Frances D. Freeman, Clara Louise Oakley Barfield, William Ray Oakley, Sr., and her son-in-law Robert Blackwell Smith II.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Elizabeth Elaine Jordan of Raleigh, NC (Kathy), Charlene Jordan Bunn of Zebulon, NC (Gregory), and Katrina Jordan Smith of South Prince George, VA. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Adam Gregory Bunn of Rocky Mount, NC (Kendall), and Whitney Noel Bunn of Zebulon, NC. She also has many nieces, nephews, and special friends that she loved, along with her beloved cat Mr. Banks.
Sybil was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and Roanoke Rapids Nursing School. Prior to entering nursing, she spent one year at East Carolina University studying music. After graduation from nursing school, she spent over 50 years practicing excellence in her nursing career with a high level of pride, dedication and compassion.
We are thankful for her many caregivers over this last year and appreciate each and every one of them. A specials thanks to Elder Juanita Bowles, Kelly Gauldin, and Pam Stewart for all their kindness, support and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, June 21st, 2022, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.
