Sylvia Cyckevic

Sylvia Platt Cyckevic, 91, of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011. She was a longtime member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, where she served as an Altar Guild Member. Mrs. Cyckevic was a lifetime member of the Nathaniel Cawsey Garden Club, a past member of the Hopewell Womenâ??s Club and various other community organizations. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling with friends, visiting the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Cyckevic is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cyckevic Jr.; son, Michael D. Cyckevic; parents, John M. and Elsie M. Platt; sisters, Marjorie P. Hering, Sydney P. Voda, and Emily P. Aderholt; and a brother, Harry Platt. She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Cyckevic Gordon; grandson, Matthew Joseph Gordon; brothers, John M. Platt, William H. Platt, and Robert G. Platt; sister, Elsie P. Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Interment to follow at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church, 505 Cedar Lane, Hopewell, VA 23860.
