Sylvia J. Kimbrell

Sylvia J. Kimbrell, age 91, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Born on November 14, 1932, Sylvia was known for her devout Christian faith and her role as a cherished friend and community member.

Throughout her life, Sylvia dedicated many hours to her favorite hobbies, sewing and quilting, which brought joy not only to her but also to those fortunate enough to receive her beautiful creations. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation at Powers Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a regular attendee.

Sylvia was predeceased by her loving husband, Clarence Kimbrell; her parents, William Henry Johnson and Bessie Murphy Johnson; her brother, V.W. Johnson; her sister, Orene J. Wise; and her children, Jack G. Harland and Beverly Jean Matthews. She is survived by her son, Dan H. Harland, of Gardendale, Alabama, who will miss her deeply.

A service to honor Sylvia's life will be held at Powers Memorial Baptist Church, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sylvia's memory can be made to Powers Memorial Baptist Church, supporting a community that was very dear to her heart.
