Tara Meredith Welch, 29, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009. She was a loving wife, daughter and sister. Tara grew up spending summers at Beulah Recreation where she was a lifeguard and an avid swimmer. She graduated from Meadowbrook High School and continued her education at Virginia Tech where she obtained her graduate and post-graduate degrees in Education. Tara began her career six years ago teaching at Curtis Elementary in Chester, where she was currently employed. She also grew up attending Tomahawk Baptist and Branchâ??s Baptist Church. Tara was an athlete and runner throughout school. She continued this by participating in charitable runs later in life. Tara greatly valued family life and the relationships she had with her husband, parents and siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Welch; parents, Cla and Janice Meredith; sisters, Rachel McCaffrey and husband, Colin and Katie Austin and husband, Jeremy; brother, Cla Meredith and wife, Natalie; nieces and nephews, Brenan, Erin and Meredith McCaffrey and Layla and Jaxson Austin; and grandparents, William and Era Walker. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Tomahawk Baptist Church, 12920 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23112 with family receiving friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions payable to: Taraâ??s Children Trust. This fund is for school children in need and can be sent to: KSKG, 823 E.
