Terry Franklin Canter

It is with deep sorrow and sadness we announce the death of Terry Franklin Canter. He passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 peacefully at home.
Born in Bridgeport, Ohio on November 10, 1944 to the late Milo and Mattie Canter. He was also preceded in death by brothers, William Canter and Kenneth Canter; sisters, Rosalee Fleshman and Dora Marsh.
Terry was a high school graduate and a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam era. He retired as a welder and was an avid reader. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all. Terry never spoke bad about anyone and accepted everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Valerie Daniels; son, Terry F. Canter, II. (Kara) of Bridgeport, Ohio; daughters, Susan Custer, Betty Leeke (Dave)of West Virginia, and Stacey Cooke of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Korynne Canter, Josalyn Canter, Adelyn Canter, Tabitha Leeke, Brittany Canter, Valerie Custer, Brent Cooke, and Austin Cooke; sisters, Betty Billingsley and Sheila Wray; brother, Bruce Canter; sister-in-law, Mary L. Canter; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Intrepid Hospice of Chester for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gary’s United Methodist Church, 13501 Sunnybrook Rd., S. Prince George, VA 23805. There will be no service per Terry’s request and for the safety of everyone during Covid. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
