Thaddeus (Thad) F. Redmond Jr., 84, of Colonial Heights, VA. passed away peacefully on May 14, 2015 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center under the care of the Angels (nurses) of Journey’s Way Hospice Unit, Richmond, VA., whom he and the family think so highly of. Mr. Redmond was predeceased by his parents, Mr. Thaddeus F. Redmond Sr. and Mrs. Virgie Lee Brockwell Redmond. He was extremely proud to serve his country as a Korean War Veteran of the United States Air Force, attended Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA and was an electrician by trade. He was employed with Allied Chemical (Honeywell) for 34 years and retired as Plant Maintenance Supervisor of the Hopewell, VA location. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and was an ardent Hokie’s sports fan. Survivors include the love of his life and wife of fifty-nine years, Delores Cousins Redmond, and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of which he was so proud; sons, Thaddeus (Tri) F. Redmond III and wife Laurie Kellogg, and Dale H. Redmond; daughter, Lori Dee Sorenson; granddaughters, Tiffany Lee Hall and husband Jason, Savannah L. Brill, and Katie L. Brill and fiancé Donel Smith; grandsons, Thaddeus (Tripp) F. Redmond IV and wife Jessica, Charles (Chase) P. Mezera III and Jessica Anderson, and Michael B. Mezera and fiancée Brandy Boggs; and great-grandchildren, Hayley Wilkinson, Kassie Mitchell, McKinley Mitchell, Jayda Brill, Ryleigh Redmond, and Ryder Mezera and Hannah Grace Redmond. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia 10300 Pridesville Road Amelia, VA 23002.
