The Ruth W. Burgess

**Due to inclement weather the visitation scheduled for Monday night will now be held at the church on Tuesday following the 11:00 a.m. memorial service.**

Reverend Dr. Ruth Westbrook Burgess, of Petersburg, passed away on February 28, 2014. Born in Petersburg, VA she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Lillian Claude Westbrook She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald E. Burgess, Sr.; one daughter, Brenda Kvasnicka; granddaughter, Courtney Marie Burgess; and a sister, Carolyn McAdoo. Dr. Burgess was currently serving as the Senior Pastor at the Family of God Church in Enon, and has been for the last 37 years. She is survived by one son, Reginald E. Burgess, Jr. and wife, Teresa; a daughter, Shari B. Garrett and husband, Monte; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Claude P. Westbrook; and her lifetime friend, Reverend Betty Hobbs. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Family of God Church, 2500 Point of Rocks Rd., Chester, VA 23836. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be private. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Courtney Burgess Memorial Fund c/o OBX Community Foundation, P.O.
