Thelma Miles

Thelma Smith Miles, age 75, of Hopewell, VA, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She was born in South Hill, VA. Mrs. Miles was a retired Secretary with Fort Lee, with over 25 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Guilders Circle, and the United Methodist Women. A member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority International Society, an avid bridge player, and the Hopewell Twinning Association. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her parents, Robert P. and Lizzie Hazelwood Smith, her husband, Games Garner Miles, and a son, Todd H. Miles. She is survived by a son, Jason Foster Miles of Hopewell; sisters, Myrtle S. Miller of Stanley, VA, Kathleen S. Dolph of Weedsport, NY, and Hilda S. Brown of Hopewell. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Friday, February 15, 2008 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. O. H. Burton, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
