Theodore Milton Race

Theodore "Teddy" Milton Race, 87, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Stephen Sr. and Julia Race; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Claudette Rae Race; a sister, Wanda Korn; and one brother, Stephen Race, Jr. Mr. Race was a member of Life Church in Hopewell, Va (formerly Faith Tabernacle). Teddy served in the United States Army Reserves, retired from Reynolds Metals as a pressman and was a well-known brick mason in the Hopewell community. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Teddy is survived by his two children, Lou Ann Osborn (Frank) and Jeff Race (Jenny); four grandchildren, Matthew Osborn (Lisa), Brandon Osborn (Trish), Sarah Morical, and Megan White (Devin); seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Joyner and Judy Corbett (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with the Reverend Al Hanson and the Reverend Manley Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 1:00 PM.
