Therese Ann Keegan Mansfield

Therese Ann Keegan Mansfield passed away on April 9, 2025.

She was born and raised in Emmett, Michigan, a place she was proud to call home. Therese Ann went on to graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in early childhood education and later earned a Master's Degree in Pastoral Theology from Loyola University. She married Charles Mansfield and moved to McKenney, Virginia. She spent her life serving others, beginning at McKenney Elementary as a teacher. She went on to work for the Catholic Diocese, of Richmond as a pastoral coordinator. She spent 23 years serving the parishes of Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Blackstone, St. John the Baptist, in Crewe, and Sacred Heart, in Meherrin. She was awarded the Benemerenti medal by Pope St. John Paul II, the highest honor that a lay person can receive in the Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Mansfield; and by her parents, James Keegan and Florence Kennedy Keegan. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Mansfield; children, Kristen Beekwilder (Norm), Michael Mansfield (Lisa), Mark Mansfield, Anthony Mansfield, Patrick Mansfield (Heather), Kevin Mansfield, Keith Mansfield (Krystal), and Bridget Stacy (Todd); and 16 grandchildren, Michael (Heather), Jim, Charlie, Joseph, Kathleen, Mary, Audrey, Maggie, Patrick, Caroline, Anna, Izzy, Brian, Henry, Thomas, and Madeline. She also leaves behind her siblings, James Keegan (Nancy), Michael Keegan (Tess), Patrick Keegan (Margie), Deanne Keegan Quain (Pat, dec.), and Rosemary Palmateer (Don); numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends include, Andrew, Beth, Seth, and Roger Franzyshen.

Therese Ann was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg. A Christian Wake service and visitation will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. A Rite of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg, VA, at 12 noon, with interment to follow, at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Reception to follow the interment.
