Therman Dee Ricks, 80, of Colonial Heights, VA died July 9, 2018. Born and raised in Benton, MS, he was the son of the late Samuel Ruffin and Addie Louise Ricks. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and devoted many hours volunteering at his church and with the Gideons International organization. He was a retired supervisor at Pet Dairy, Inc. in Chester, VA after more than 25 years of service. He was an active member of Matoaca Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees and as a church deacon. He was also a girls’ softball team coach. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was known for his beautiful flowers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ricks was preceded in death by his twin brother Herman, as well as brothers Jessie and Sam and sisters Mary and Edna. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Barricks Ricks; daughter Kimberly Ricks Bone of White House, TN and husband Nelson; daughter Kristy Ricks Reineke of Brambleton, VA and husband Kurt; two granddaughters Hannah Bone and Samantha Reineke; brothers George Ricks of Greenwood, MS and Bill Ricks of Benton, MS, and his beloved dog Ginger. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Matoaca Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Joyner and Dr. G.C. Harbuck officiating. Interment will follow at East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the J.T. Morris & Son funeral home in Petersburg, VA.
