Thomas H. Osmundson Sr., 89, of Disputanta passed away Tuesday December 30, 2003 in Waverly Health Care Center. He was the son of the late Henry Joseph and Narcissus Davis Osmundson and the husband of the late Margaret Dewberry Osmundson. He was a retired Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with the Henry B. Gilpin Pharmaceutical Co. in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of Petersburg Optimist Club and worked with the Junior Optimist Club. He was owner of Pickwick Fabrics in Colonial Heights from 1961-1971. He was an expert craftsman and basket weaver who started weaving many different types of traditional and historic baskets in 1980 and was still weaving baskets at the time of his death. Mr. Osmundson was involved with the Flowerdew Hundred Heritage Fairs in Prince George County and The Federated Woman’s Club Community Day where he sold his baskets and he taught basket weaving classes at the Miles B. Carpenter museum in Waverly, Va., with the proceeds going to help support the museum. He is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Anne Massey and husband Walter of Disputanta, Margaret Joan Norwood and husband Danny of Col. Heights, a son Thomas H. Osmundson Jr.,and wife Ellen of Hopewell, six grandchildren, Tamara Buffkin of Col. Heights, Cynthia Mackiewicz, Mary Sutherland both of Prince George Co., Thomas H. Osmundson III of Burbank, California, Jon Osmundson of Bean Station, Tennessee, Wendy Tomlinson of Blacksburg, Va, and eight great grandchildren. The Family will receive friends Thursday January 2, 2004, from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service Friday 2 PM January 2 at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to th Prince George Emergency Crew and the Miles B. Carpenter Museum of Waverly.
