Thomas E. Reis "Tom", 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was predeceased by his parents, Linus and Frances (Parvis) Reis. He leaves behind to honor his memory his loving wife, Laurel Ann; daughters, Carol Shifflett (Martin) and Kimberly (Tim Powers); stepsons, Zachary Dingle and Christopher Dingle (Octavia); grandchildren, Madison Shifflett, Robert Newsome, and Kelsey Newsome; brother, Patrick Reis; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War while in the Air Force. He spent his career with Wonder Bread and Kroger, retiring in 2007. He loved going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina every year with Laurel. He enjoyed many genres of music. He always took his camera everywhere he went, taking many photographs along the way. He loved his Uncle Don, who was a train engineer and who instilled his love of trains into Tom. Uncle Don would let him drive the trains sometimes. He loved riding and watching trains. He also loved visiting train museums. Everyday, Tom would go with his wife to Henricus Park to feed the turtles, stray cats, and birds. It was a time they both cherished together.
Tom loved the Ohio State University football team and their band. He always wore his Ohio State jacket and other memorabilia from Ohio State, and he loved talking to anyone who would listen about how much he enjoyed Ohio State. He never met a stranger and would strike up conversations with anyone! Tom will truly be missed by all!
