Thomas Allen Stallings

Thomas Allen Stallings, 66, of Hopewell, VA passed away Monday, March 19, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, John F. Stallings, Jr. and Marian Senn Stallings. Tommy graduated from Hopewell High School in 1970 and from The Shipbuilding Apprentice School in Newport News. Tommy lived in San Diego for 30 years and returned to Hopewell in 2008. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed growing Orchids and Bromeliads, and collecting and polishing rocks from all over the country. Tommy loved music, going to concerts, and listening to his favorite local band, Magnolia. His greatest loves were his daughter, Lisa and his grandson, Gio. Tommy was employed as a steamfitter at Newport News Shipyard and the San Diego Shipyards. He had a mechanical mind and could figure out how anything worked. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Baeza (Ulises); grandson, Giovanni Baeza, and Lisa’s mother, Shirley Stallings; sisters, Marian Cook (Jim); Sherry Johnson (DJ), Linda Jones (Kennie); brother, John F. Stallings, III (Judy); lifelong friend, Johnny Taylor; as well as a large family and many friends. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the care Tommy received from his nurse, Ginny Westcott, RNCM, with Heartland Hospice. The family will receive friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
