1930-2023
The Stephenson family said farewell to their much loved patriarch on April 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Agnes Dunn Stephenson; and is survived by by his children, Thomas E. Stephenson, Jr., Matthew R. Stephenson, Anne M. Stephenson Irsay, and Mary V. Stephenson Fischer.
Tom served during the Korean War and spent time in Vietnam as an NIS agent. Having spent his entire life in law enforcement, he enjoyed telling others of his travels and of the hair raising experiences he had aboard the main means of transportation during the wars, the aircraft carrier.
Tom felt deeply indebted to the Veteran community and stayed involved in their welfare for as long as he was able.
He will be known for his gigantic sense of humor and his constant desire to help any and all who needed a favor done with a beautiful smile.
The family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Bon Secours Hospitals, Emergency Rooms and Hospice Care at St. Francis and St. Mary's.
Their love and gentle care guided Tom on his last earthly journey with dignity. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to send a gift or donation in Tom's memory, you may do so to Bon Secours Community House, 1133 Old Bon Air Road, N. Chesterfield VA 23235.
A private funeral service will be held at Virginia Veteran's Cemetery at Amelia on Friday, April 28, 2023. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
