Thomas Rodney Thompson

Thomas Rodney Thompson, 53, of Disputanta, Virginia entered into God’s eternal kingdom on December 9th, 2020. Tommy was born and raised in Glen Lyn, Virginia. He was the son of the late Thomas Thurman Thompson and Emma Justine Law Thompson. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was a graduate of Narrows Highschool and New River Community College. While he was a student at New River, he earned his degree in Instrument Electrical Technology. In 1987, Tommy relocated to Hopewell, Virginia and began his career working at Firestone. Upon the closure of Firestone, Tommy went to work at The Hopewell Wastewater Treatment Facility. At the time of his death, he was employed at Dupont Tejin Films.
Tommy married Debbie in 1994, from that union became his greatest joy, his twins Kassidy and Kourtney. Tommy enjoyed cooking for family and friends, he enjoyed traveling with his family and exploring new places. In his spare time, he liked gardening and working outside. He was an animal lover and was greatly loved by his dog, Joey.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Strouth Thompson, and his daughters, Kassidy Margaret Ann Thompson and Kourtney Emma Jane Thompson. He is survived by his siblings Mitchell Thompson (Beverly), Tressia Lambert (C.T.), and Wanda Testerman (Dale). He is survived by nieces Chandler Shirer, Sharon Gabbert (Joe Hassel), Ashley Mckenzie (John) , Callie Lambert, and Christine Fleeman. He is also survived by great niece Heather Vinroe and John Mckenzie. He was predeceased by Michael Vinroe. Tommy is survived by his mother and father-in-law Margaret and Donald Strouth, and sister and brother-in-law Kim and Scotty Shirer. He is also survived by lifelong friends, Ken and Charolene Galbraith.
A celebration of life will be held on the grounds on St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hopewell, Virginia on December 19th at 2pm. Please dress casually and warm, as this is an outside event. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church (505 Cedar Lane, Hopewell, VA 23860), The Hopewell Food Pantry (903 West City Point Rd, Hopewell, VA 23860) and Prince George Fire & EMS (6602 Courts Drive, 2nd floor, PO Box 68, Prince George, VA 23875).
