Thomas "Tom" Michael Joy

Thomas Michael "Tom" Joy, 78, of Chester, VA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Born in Hempstead, NY, he was the son of the late John and Marian Joy and was preceded in death by his sister, Maryann "Mimi" Joy, and brother, John Joy. Tom received his Bachelor of Technology Degree and worked for the U. S. Government as an Electronic Engineer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, gardening, astronomy, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Joy is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carlene Adele Joy; his children, Christine Bornschein (James), Michael Joy (Lisa), John Litter (Diane), Jimmy Joy, Deborah Jacobs (John), and Danny Joy (Tina); 10 grandchildren; sisters, Gail Engeman and Sue Strong (Bob); numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Ivan Perkinson, officiating. Interment will be private.
